Final Year Assessment (2011)
It is hard enough to believe that this year is actually coming to a close, let alone that I have really spent over a decade hopping between the three schools on Huston road, but it had certainly been a good one, I was able to spent uncountable hours inside the art room, and somehow I was able to finish the one project I have been dreaming of during the entire year. I find it hard to reduce the lessons I have learned, and the times I have had to a numerical grade, after all what do we have to judge it off of, the dreams we had in our heads, and the finished product? I feel lucky for once knowing that time, they were one and the same.
Marking Period # 3: 2011
It is hard to believe that the third term is already over, at times I felt like i was not being as productive as i could have been, and from time to time I lost my concentration, but now that i look back on the work that I made over the past few weeks I think I did an overall good job. If I were to give myself a grade I would give myself a ‘B’ or a ‘B-’ I realize that there have been times when i was not living up to my full potential, but I allways managed to bounce back!
Marking Period # 2: 2010-2011
This has been an interesting time, I spent a lot of time this term trying to escape doing my observational work, but in the end I was able to get four or five strong pieces completed, and I was also able to complete one or two independent study pieces that I have wanted to do, it has defiantly been a carefull balancing act, but I would put this Marking Period in the win column!
Marking Period # 1: 2010
Nearing the end of August I was ready to hit the ground running, I had been working like crazy on my comic, mind you I didn’t have a story, workable sets or developed stories for each character. From then untill now I have worked on these lacking areas, while keeping up with assignments for this course (and my Honors course) and going through the sometimes negative creative process. In terms of class participation and that stuff, I have been here every day, and whenever I find the opportunity i come back here to get a few more minuets to work. I have taken away much from our discussions with Derik Badman, the audio from Sir Ken Robinson’s speeches I have re envisioned what it means to be a student, an artist, and a cartoonist, I hope that within the next few months I will be able to finish by current cartoon, and finish my animated cartoon. I have also been able to branch out this marking period, I have spent quite a few hours of studio time working vertically, I have never before worked on a “wall” surface, and doing so I have been able to approach more abstract techniques, such as working with wax, and drips, and such. I hope that by the end of the year, I will be able to use the work styles I have just started to use, in my work through the year.
