Progress Reports

5.13.11 (Progress Report #7)

1) to say that I am exited is an extreme understatement, as I look back on this year i emember my goal was allways to make an animation, and i am lucky enough now to acutally see that disire follow through to compleation.

2) To say i have learned patence is not what i wist to say, but i learned how to complite a vision i had in my head over a period of time. and i have learned how to see things through to the verry end.

3) I suppose there are endless possibilitys now, but as to what they are, i do not yet no what.

4.29.11 (Progress Report #6)

1) As of now I have all my animations cut out, and as they are sitting next to each other they look quite cool, sure they take up considerable room, but thats to be expected.

2) I was asked if i had planned to actually animate them and have been seriously considering it as the reason i havent before is the scannning of the actual frames would take too long, but now as they are all cut out, i can fit four of five in per scan. So i am seriously considering doing that and animating it.

3) Next step-Animate!

4.8.11 (Progress Report #5)

1) I have been working on my animations and all seems to be going well, I cut out the charictors from the pages so the will be easier to view, and as of now i have two of the animations cleaned up, just enough time to finish the long last one

2) I spent some time troubleshooting with how to have my charictors viewable, and i think i have fixed that situation.

3) I want to continue this for my last animation

3.18.11 (Progress Report #4)

1) I have made great progress for my honors class, I have made three final still life pieces, instead of just the one, and I am starting to clean up some of my old animations to get them ready to post for the art show.

2) I wanted to address working on cardboard, and attempt to gain a better control with water color, as i have used it in the past and the final results were either too bold or too bland, I wanted to make a piece that is just dynamic enough.

3) before the ned of this next week i hope to havetwo of the three animations done and finished.

3.4.11 (Progress Report #3)

1) I have finished my work on the still life drawings and have gotten quite far on my drawings for my eventual animation of the book series ‘The Belgariad’

2) I have faced quite a few issues, relating to making the costumes, and tools, look period related, as the story takes place on a world that has existed for several melenia in what we would call the ‘dark ages’ so I have been doing some research as to how things should appear.

3) After this I hope to actually make the tools and weapons i have drawn so far, i can run to the store this weekend and grab some sheet foam, and some tape.

2.18.11 (Progress Report #2)

1) I have started working on the drawings for my Honors class and over the past weeks I have spent a great deal of my time on them.

2) I became aware that my work seems to ‘look’ better if I spent time working on several pieces at once, I realized that each and every piece together quite well. As of yet I have made four pieces that I am really proud of, and can not wait to place in my portfolio.

3) My next step will be to finish and clean up the rest of this series, and begin work on my proposed project which I can not wait to start!

2.4.11 (Progress Report #1)

1) As of today I have made five strong still life compositions, they are heavy contour pieces, incorporating with what is my best work with shading.

2)  For once i have had no problem starting my work, in fact, my problem has been stopping.

3) I have not yet started working on the honors class assignment, but I would like to have some good work before I stop to work on them.

1.7.11 (Progress Report #7)

a week ago I realized that the ‘Sketch Book Project’ was creeping up, and I decided to switch my focus back to it, it’s almost perfectly submittable now I think, perhaps a bit of fine tuning here and there, but nothing major. I hope that after this I will be able to actual free up some creative boundaries, I feel that even though I have been working like crazy, I don’t feel that the work is strong enough to stand on its own.

12.17.11 (Progress Report #6)

Ok, getting myself to put aside my Sketchbook went smoothly, getting my observational work up to snuff is , well a little better but I still don’t know if its good enough to label ‘portfolio work’ as of yet, I hope I will be able to make myself sit down for an afternoon and fine-tune it

12.3.10 (Progress Report #5)

Woah this is taking far, Far longer than I had wanted, im still up to my eyes in un-finished pages, I had planned to have it done my last week, but I have no idea what happened to that plan. I’m thinking about putting this book aside to work on other stuff, I need to get my observational work up to par, so far my work is pretty sad, and I want to get it to a point where at least I don’t want to laugh at it!)

11.12.10 (Progress Report #4)

By now I have gotten almost all of the pencil work dome for my “Sketchbook Project”, I think it will look really good on WordPress, its narrative is not that exiting, but i spent some time trying to develop an abstract flow to be interpreted by the viewer, all the gutters and panels were applied not precisely, but rather with a ‘rambling’ brush-strokes, the boundary’s between the comics and void full space is coated with a much less concentrated ink!

11/12/10 (Progress Report #3)

After pulling up the website during class, Mr. Miller introduced “The Sketchbook Project” to us I was instantly fascinated with the idea, and just friday afternoon I received my Sketchbook, I tested a few ideas on som loose pater, untill I came to a result I was proud of.

For the first day all I should be doing is laying out the panels and the gutters for my comic, after that, I will pencil in a rough outline of how I want to tell the narrative, and then I’ll devote a huge amount of time to inking it all in. I hope that part one will be finished by the end of today, the pencil work done by the end of the 9′th and hopefully if all goes well, I will be done the inking by this time next week.

10/1/10 (Progress Report #2)

I would like to create a series of small one paneled comic stories using my characters in their enviroments, be they school hallways, the skate shop, even the slush ‘n stuff.

I want to do this to find out how the characters should act, what there personalities are like, what there relationships are with each other, and to start my head thinking about what kind of stories I can tell with them.

For this I will need anywhere from 12-15 sheets of standard printer sized paper, pencils, erasers, pens, masking material, and color pigment (be it watercolor, or marker I have not yet decided.)

I worked through all of last week working on this idea, trying various techniques and finding different options, and so far my progress has been very good, I was able to successfully fail with some materials, and was able to find out a better system to work with. it took me about three days to finish one piece, which given my calculations should keep me busy for the next four or five weeks, but I want to be finished this series by 10.31.10 (Portfolio Day)

9/2/10 (Progress Report #1)

Mr Miller pointed out a few areas around the school building that would be interesting to place some striking black and white paintings using my charictors, he pointed out three small windows about six inches tall and a yard long (i will get accurate measurements within a few days).

i belive that if  installed just a few striking black and white paintings it would be a great way to not only display my work, but also give me some good insight into interventionist artwork, a topic I was only introduced to a few days ago by mr. Miller, in short interventionist art is simply artwork of any media that interrupts a daily lifestyle, such as in this case, people turning their heads in a hallway, as they make there long (and perilous?) journey to their next class.

for this I will need, accurate measurements of the windows, foam coreboard (fit to size) stencils, and paint.

I would like some time to sketch for myself what I would like this project to look at in the end, I figure my next friday (9/10/10) I will have a design concept i am comfortable with. by that monday (9/13/10) I will have the coarboard, measured and all prepped to be painted, from that point on I think it will take me five to seven class periods to complete each individual piece (in other words either being finished by (9/17/10) or (9/19/10)
